Photo: My first two successful knitted coasters. Not perfect, but I’m proud.
Learning about Fair Isle Knitting. A few weeks ago Frances came home from her Grandmother’s with a bag of knitting supplies. I’ve never knitted before but the cold weather combined with no internet had me desperate for a new hobby. After learning some of the basics I’ve started my first real project, a scarf. Hoping to have a sweater ready to wear by 2015.
Many thanks to Alice Starmore.

No internet in the new house and it feels very good. Getting online just check email now and again, and never reply (whoops), is great. Occasionally, I need to veg-out and read a million blogs about video games or whatever but for the most part I don’t miss the time wasting part of it.
Not trying to say that everyone should get off the internet. When I needed to know that I was not alone in the world, that my feelings and experiences were valid and important, the internet was there for me. That is an amazing thing the internet can do. There are all kinds of awesome things the internet can do. However, right now I don’t need that stuff.
We have been watching a lot of BBC DVDs from the library (Poirot, Doc Martin, etc.), and playing board games. The game in the photo above is from A Few Acres of Snow. Amazing game with a rule I love, “If the game ends in a tie, the French side wins.” Ha!
All that said, I have a feeling when I go home for Christmas I will be spending 24 hours a day surfing the web and DVRing every ghost show on TV. No shame.

Currently reading.
This book is getting me pumped about Thanksgiving. The person who helped Jessica Fletcher write this book, Donald Bain, has written over 115 books. What an accomplishment! I’m trying to figure out his writing secret. It has something to do with repeating the same information over and over and talking about how nice everything is and having people say something polite but actually, in their internal dialogue, thinking something suspicious about everything ever.
p.s. Did you notice the skull shadow on the house? YIKES!

Found a new couch for our new apartment. We don’t move in for a few more days so this is us casually hanging out on our couch in the consignment shop.

star trippin’ - paul baribeau

ok let me just tell u why this song is great.. it’s upbeat and fun yeah BUT OHGOD THOSE LITTLE LAUGHS IM SO HAPPY BE HAPPY WITH ME nsadhfjsaa (i have now discovered i should never write a review for anything ever).

Easily the best song that I ever had anything to do with. Seems like it is starting to get the critical response it deserves. Only took about ten years!

Technically though it is not a Paul Baribeau song, but in fact a song by the band The Three Body Types. Check out this link for the full discography—-> LINK.
